Best. Inauguration. Ever.
Aretha Franklin is set to perform at the inauguration of Barack Obama in Washington D.C. next month.
The Queen Of Soul will play for about four million people, who will make the trek to the city for the swearing in of Obama as President of the United States.
Other participants in the historical inauguration will include poet Elizabeth Alexander, civil rights leader Rev. Joseph Lowery, the US Marine and Navy bands, the San Francisco Boys Chorus and the San Francisco Girls Chorus.
In addition, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, violinist Itzhak Perlman, pianist Gabriela Montero and clarinetist Anthony McGill will perform a new work composed by John Williams, who scored the movies ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Jaws’. Wow.
This won’t be the first time Franklin performs for Obama. She attended a rally in Detroit last summer, at which Obama himself sang a little ‘Chain Of Fools’. Of course he did, because he’s awesome.
